Our community breathed a sigh of relief Tuesday when 7-month-old Drake Boyd was found safe in Miami, two days after his mother was attacked in Greene County, Tenn., and the child was taken.

Johnson Citian Don Luttrell says he had an uncle that was an artist. That’s where he figures he got the artistic bug. So, around the age of 40, he became a scrimshander.

I desperately want to be one of those middle aged women who embraces every creeping wrinkle on her face.  Who celebrates the silver in her hair and the still-slight but discernable downward droop of the skin right above the eye lid.

I have always planned to be that woman, too cool and too together to be bothered by such minor signs of aging.  That, of course, was before those supposed “minor signs” starting showing up on MY face.  They were easy to laugh off in theory, but now they are reality.  And, as the saying goes, reality bites.

This year, I put out lots of different annuals – more than I usually do.  Then – here comes the easy part – I ignored them.  I did not water them.  I did not fertilize them.  I didn’t ignore them on purpose, mind you.  It has just been a busy few months.  And as you know, we have had killer high temps this summer, starting as early as June.  Yet I coldly, callously did nothing to help my annuals survive.

Most didn’t.

Sometimes, all it takes is for somebody to turn the lights on.

This recipe comes with a secret ingredient and some clear “no-no’s”.  I loved it.
